ColdSculpt Q & A

What is ColdSculpt?

ColdSculpt is a method of targeting pockets of body fat that don’t go away with diet and exercise. These areas may appear due to age or genetics, so they’re almost impossible to lose on your own.

During a ColdSculpt procedure, your fat tissue is frozen to 14°F, which kills it. Your body reabsorbs the dead fat cells naturally, and you’ll start seeing results about three weeks after your treatment. Each session results in a loss of about 20% of the targeted fat, and you can come back for additional sessions for optimal results.

What can ColdSculpt do?

ColdSculpt can target many areas of fat and excess skin on your body. Commonly targeted areas with ColdSculpt include:

  • Double chins
  • Thighs
  • Stomach
  • Back
  • Buttocks
  • Under the breasts

If you have other areas that you’d like to target, CoolSculpting can address most areas. Ask your doctor at Apex Health & Body Sculpting how ColdSculpt can help.

What are the side effects of ColdSculpt?

ColdSculpt comes with a few side effects for some patients. During the procedure, some patients experience:

  • Pulling or tugging
  • Stinging
  • Intense cold
  • Cramping

Most of these sensations go away quickly as the area becomes numb further into the treatment. After the procedure, some patients experience:

  • Tenderness
  • Aching
  • Itching
  • Redness
  • Bruising

These side effects go away within days or weeks of the treatment. Sometimes, other side effects occur. If you’re concerned about how the treatment feels or about lasting side effects, your doctor can discuss the risks with you further so that you’re confident in your decision to get the treatment.

Am I a candidate for ColdSculpt?

Many patients are candidates for ColdSculpt. Before committing to the procedure, you must have realistic expectations and understand that, although it is a fat reduction procedure, it is not intended for significant weight loss. Rather, it is a nonsurgical alternative to liposuction, and you must have pockets of fat that won’t go away despite other efforts.
